About the Chamber Music Society at Wistariahurst

Now in its sixth season, the Chamber Music Society at Wistariahurst is a fellowship of musicians, professional and amateur, from New England who are devoted to performing the great music of the 19th and early 20th centuries for voice, piano, chorus, and instrumental ensemble. David Perkins is founder and Artistic Director.  Programs combine little known and familiar masterpieces and are presented in the Belle Skinner Music Room of Wistariahurst Museum in Holyoke, MA, and at Wesley United Methodist Church in Hadley.  Each concert has a theme, and is often accompanied with narration or commentary.  The aim is to recreate the elegance and friendly spirit of chamber music-making from the time of the Schubertiads to the early 20th-century Paris salon of the Princess de Polignac, and beyond.

In addition to pianist Monica Jakuc Leverett, performers in the series include: Alissa Leiser, Estela Olevsky, and Edward Rosser, piano; Junko Watanabe, soprano; Eileen Ruby, mezzo-soprano; Peter W. Shea, tenor; David Perkins, baritone; Alison Hale and Maria Scotera, flute; David Schneider, clarinet; Sarah Briggs, violin; Astrid Schween, cello.
